Coronavirus: 76 confirmed patients abscond from military training camp in Burkina Faso

Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, September 14  (Infosplusgabon) - Seventy=six people who tested positive for coronavirus at a military training camp for students of the National School of Administration and Magistracy (ENAM) fled on Sunday, authorities have announced.

 

Health authorities in Burkina Faso on Sunday detected a new outbreak of coronavirus in the Ouézzin Coulibaly military camp in Bobo-Dioulasso, in the west of the country, where more than 800 future civil servants were undergoing a 45-day military training course.

 

A test on all students, confirmed 188 cases of coronavirus.

 

But the secretary-general of the governor of the Hauts Bassins region, Sayouba Sawadogo, said that 76 students who tested positive to COVID-19, after being informed of their status and the risk of spreading the disease, deserted the training site at night on September 12. They left without authorization from the administrative, military and health authorities who are searching for them.

 

As of September 11, Burkina Faso had a total of 1707 confirmed cases of coronavirus, 516 active cases, 56 deaths and 1,135 people cured.
