Tripoli, Libya, September 17 (Infosplusgabon) - Libya's Presidential Council of the Government of National Accord (GNA) has disclosed "the killing and liquidation of dozens of people in several parts of Tarhouna", calling on the international community and the International Sanctions Committee to take a firm stand and measures that are needed to deal with these horrible crimes.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the Presidential Council urged "the UN Support Mission to conduct an emergency investigation and to work immediately to end these violations."

"The GNA's Presidential Council condemns in the strongest terms a series of heinous crimes committed by criminal gangs against the population of Tarhouna under the so-called dignity operation, as dozens of people have been killed and liquidated at dawn in different parts of the city", said the statement.

It offered its condolences to the families of those who died as a result of these crimes, promising not to let this act go by without punishment.

Also, it announced that instructions have been given to the security and investigative organs to make the necessary arrangements to prosecute the officials involved.

"These cowardly and genocide-like acts are committed only by criminals deprived of religious and human values," said the Council's statement.
