Gaborone, Botswana, September 12 (Infosplusgabon) - The Botswana Ministry of Finance and Economic Development is warning the public about fake apprenticeship cash grants across social media platforms intended to defraud members of the public.

The Ministry of Finance and Economic Development says it has noted with concern, yet another fake Face book Post on its page which is also widely shared across the social media platforms, relating to the Ministry offering citizens grants of up to US$50,000 to start small and medium- sized enterprise businesses.

The post in question has a completion form, requesting for personal details from members of the public and has an individual by the name of Mrs. Alice Elison, contacting members of the public directly through their email addresses.

The Ministry further cautioned members of the public that the individual or individuals in question also purport to be the Minister of Finance and Economic Development, O. K. Matambo and also use the old Ministry’s name of "Finance and Development Planning", as opposed to the new one being Finance and Economic Development to communicate with unsuspecting members of the public.

“We wish to reiterate once again that the post in question, just like the previous ones, is a scam aimed at swindling members of the public of their hard earned money. The public is advised not to follow the link or provide their personal details and also to disregard any ‘friend-requests’ or communication from such pages,” a spokesperson for the ministry said.
