Tripoli, Libya, October 31 (Infosplusgabon) - The governments of France, Germany, Italy and the United Kingdom have called on the Libyan parties to respect their commitments and fully implement the permanent ceasefire agreement recently reached in Geneva, Swizerland.

In a joint statement issued on Friday, France, Germany, Italy and the United Kingdom "warmly welcomed the outcome of the fourth round of talks of the UN-mediated 5 + 5 Libyan Joint Military Commission, the permanent ceasefire, and the announcement by the UN Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) of the launch of the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum, which held its first videoconference on October 26.

The four European countries reiterated their appeal "to the Libyan parties to respect their commitments and to fully implement the agreement".

"The door is now open to take the next step in the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum in Tunis, which starts on November 9, during which the Libyans themselves will agree on the future of state institutions, stability, security and prosperity," they Europeans added in the document.

They said they "share and fully support the objectives of the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum to reach a consensus on a new unified governance framework and arrangements leading to the organization of local elections as soon as possible in an effort to restore Libya's sovereignty and the legitimacy of Libyan institutions".

The four countries stressed that at this vital stage, "they will support the decision of UNSMIL in order to ensure an orderly transition to the institutional framework in the future. We want to see everyone working with a sense of responsibility to seek positive results for the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum, which remains the only possible option to overcome the Libyan crisis".
