Mauritania: 3 operators get the "4G" licenses

Nouakchott, Mauritania, October 4 (Infosplusgabon) - Following a public tender, the license for the establishment and operation of the fourth Generation (4G) electronic communications networks and services has been awarded to three bidders, MAURITEL, CHINGUITEL and MATTEL, the Post and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority indicated on Sunday.

 

 

 

MAURITEL, a subsidiary of Maroc Telecom, the historical operator, CHINGUITEL, a subsidiary of the Sudanese "EXPRESSO", and the Tunisian Mauritano Telecommunications (MATTEL/Tunisia Telecom and national private capital) are the cell phone companies present on the Mauritanian market.

 

"The three bidders have proposed financial offers greater than or equal to the reserve price set by Order 00559 MERSTIC of July 30, 2020, of the Ministries of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Information Technology and Communication.

 

MAURITEL proposal 500 million MRU or US$13.5 million (+2.5% of the annual turnover of the "4G", CHINGUITEL, 500 million MR or US$13.5 million (+2.59% of the annual turnover of the "4G"), and MATTEL 501,000 million MRU or US$13.5 million (+2.5% of the annual turnover of the "4G").

 

"The three bidding companies were invited to proceed with the payment of the fixed part of the financial counterpart of the license and to contact the Regulatory Authority to sign and validate their contracts."
