2018 CHAN: Libya, Sudan battle for bronze medal

Marrakech, Morocco, February 3 (Infosplusgabon) -  The Stade de Marrakech in the Moroccan city of Marrakech will come alive on Saturday when Sudan chase a second bronze medal in the history of the African Nations Championship (CHAN), reserved exclusively for players in the domestic football scene in Africa.

For the third/fourth place play-off, the Sudanese will be up against the 2014 champions, Libya, who lost 3-1 to hosts Morocco in the semi-finals.

Sudan narrowly suffered a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Nigeria on Wednesday night in the semi-finals.

Although they fought hard to bag a win and reach the final, they were unfortunate to lose in Marrakech as they created chances but failed to convert them against Nigeria.

In their campaign, they finished at number two in Group A after beating Guinea and Mauritania to finish with seven points. In the quarter-finals, they stunned Zambia 1-0 last Saturday.

Libya, the Mediterranean Knights, have also enjoyed a great tournament and will hope to earn a second bronze medal here.

The final match on Sunday in Casablanca will feature Nigeria and hosts Morocco, quarter-finalists in 2014 in South Africa and Group Stage victims in Rwanda in 2016. The Nigerians finished third in 2014 and were eliminated in the group stage at Rwanda 2016.
