2017 FIFA Club World Cup: Hosts Al-Jazira reach semi-final after 2nd straight win


Abu Dhabi, UAE, December 9 (Infosplusgabon) - Al-Jazira of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Saturday won their second match at the ongoing 2017 FIFA Club World Cup, beating Urawa Red Diamonds of Japan 1-0 to reach the semi-finals.


The host club had beaten Auckland City of New Zealand on 6 December in a play-off match for the quarter-finals. The win on Saturday, at the at the Zayed Sports City Stadium in Abu Dhabi, against the Japanese guarantee them a berth in the semi-finals, where they will meet defending champions Real Madrid on 13 December.


The other semi-final match will be between Grêmio of Brazil and Pachuca of Mexico which earlier on Saturday defeated Wydad Casablanca of Morocco 1-0 in the quarter finals.


Quarter-final losers Wydad and Urawa Red Diamonds meet on 12 December in the match for 5th place.
