Kagame makes minor cabinet changes, drops education, ICT ministers

Kigali, Rwanda, December 7 (Infosplusgabon) - Rwandan President Paul Kagame has appointed a health professional as the new Minister of Education and an International Monetary Fund (IMF) technocrat the new Minister of Information Technology in a mini-cabinet reshuffle announced by the Prime Minister’s office.

 

According to a statement, the new Minister of Education is Dr Eugene Mitimura, a health specialist and researcher and the new Minister of ICT is Jean de Dieu Rurangirwa, an ICT specialist who has been working at the IMF in Kenya and Malawi.

 

The Prime Minister Edourd Ngirente said the appointments were made by President Kagame in accordance with the Constitution.

 

The President also appointed  other senior government officials, including Olivier Kayumba , Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Refugees and Disaster Management (Midimar) and Francis Musoni, Secretary General of the Rwanda Demobilization and Reintegration Commission (RDRC).

 

The two new ministers replaced Jean Philbert Nsingemana, the veteran Minister of ICT and Papias Musafiri, the Education minister.
