Dakar, Senegal, April 4 (Infosplusgabon) -Senegalese President Macky Sall on Friday renewed his call on bilateral and multilateral partners in Dakar to support the efforts of weaker countries by cancelling their public debt and redeveloping their private debt according to mechanisms to be agreed upon.

"The turmoil in the world has finally exposed the fragility of all countries and their common vulnerability. So it's time to rethink the order of priorities. It is time to work together towards a new world order that puts people and humanity at the heart of international relations," he said in a message to his compatriots on the eve of  the 60th anniversary of Senegal's  independence.

Macky Sall stressed his willingness to refer the matter to the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and the African Union (AU) for a common position in the face of the effects of the crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic (Covid-19).

"I will continue my unrelenting efforts at the sub-regional and continental level for a common front of Africa in global governance and the handling of the impact of the Covid-19,"  he promised.

Senegal is celebrating the anniversary on Saturday with a national flag raising ceremony at the Palais de la République.

The celebration is held under the theme:   'Role of the defence and security forces in the management of pandemics and other disasters'.
