Six new cases of coronavirus recorded in Libya

Tripoli, Libya, April 4 (Infosplusgabon) - Libya recorded six new cases of Covid-19 on Friday, Libyan National Centre for Disease Control announced, bringing the total number of people infected with coronavirus to 17, including one death.

"Six new coronavirus infections were recorded on Friday, after testing 20 samples, 14 of which were negative", the centre said on its website on Saturday without giving further details.

On Thursday, Libya recorded its first coronavirus-related death, an 85-year-old woman whose post-death test results were positive for the disease.

Libya, a country torn apart by the ongoing war around Tripoli, has a failing health system to face the challenge of this pandemic, which requires special provisions for the prevention and treatment of the sick.

Despite repeated calls for the warring sides to observe a humanitarian truce, in order to better combat coronavirus, the fighting continues unabated, much to the chagrin of  civilians who are the first victims.
