Coronavirus: Togo records 24th confirmed case Thursday


Lomé, Togo, March 27  (Infosplusgabon) - Togo has recorded its 24th case of coronavirus infection, reliable sources told PANA on Thursday in Lomé.


From 23 confirmed cases until Wednesday, 25 March, a case was detected this Thursday and is about a 38-year-old Togolese living in Lomé who returned from France on 17 March, said the sources.


From 20 March to Thursday 26 March, the number doubled, rising from 12 to 24 confirmed cases.


The first case was detected on 5 March from a 42-year-old woman who returned from Europe.


Sources close to the coronavirus response committee said that the first case was cured.


Following the expansion of the coronavirus epidemic, Togo has taken several measures, including the closure of borders and the blockade of certain cities of the country, as well as the release of two billion CFAF to counter the spread of the disease.


The government and the teams of specialist doctors are looking at the implementation of more efficient strategies to eradicate the pandemic which has stricken fear into the populations.
