Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, Sepetember 12 (Infosplusgabon) – Former Tanzania national football team coach, Emmanuel Amunike, has lodged a complaint with FIFA arbitration committee over failure by the East African country’s football federation to settle his contractual entitlements.

The Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) and Amunike had agreed to part ways by mutual consent hardly a week after Taifa Stars’ early elimination from the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Egypt in July.

The former Nigerian international has taken the decision following TFF’s continued silence over payment of his dues, according to local media reports on Thursday.

“I have contacted FIFA on the matter,” Amunike is quoted as saying from his base in Spain, adding: “It’s not something we should be making noise about, but hopefully FIFA will look into it and decide if it’s proper for one not to be paid after work."

TFF Information Officer, Clifford Ndimbo, said the football body was working on the matter and that it would give further clarification on Amunike’s issue later on Thursday.

Football fans in Tanzania had criticised Amunike for poor selection of players who represented the country in the African tournament. Tanzania qualified for the AFCON for the first time since 1980 after finishing second in Group L.
