CHAN 2020 Qualifiers: Rwanda coach names squad against Ethiopia

Kigali, Rwanda, September 12 (Infosplusgabon) - Rwanda's coach Vincent Mashami on Thursday released a provisional squad of 26 players ahead of their first-leg clash against Ethiopia in the the 2020 Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) due on 22 September.



The CAF Executive Committee has approved the new format of qualifiers of CHAN 2020 for the Central East Zone (CECAFA) with the inclusion of Ethiopia and Djibouti.


In the new format, Rwanda will face Ethiopia.


The qualifying rounds will consist of two rounds and only Rwanda and Sudan, who are the top two ranked teams, were exempted from the first round.


Following is the provisional list of the players:


Goalkeepers: Umar Rwabugiri (APR FC), Yves Kimenyi  (Rayon Sports) and Eric Ndayishimiye  (AS Kigali)


Defenders: Thierry Manzi  (APR FC), Fitina Omborenga (APR FC), Emmanuel Imanishimwe  (APR FC), Eric Rutanga  (Rayon Sports),  Eric

Iradukunda  (Rayon Sports), Ange Mutsinzi (APR FC), Aimable Nsabimana (Police FC) and Latif Bishira (AS Kigali)


Midfiels: Haruna Niyonzima (AS Kigali), Andrew Butera  (APR FC), Olivier Niyonzima (APR FC), Eric Nsabimana Zidane (AS Kigali) and Jean Claude Iranzi (Rayon Sports), Amran Nshimiyimana (Rayon Sports), Eric Ngendahimana (Police FC) and Janvier Benedata (AS Kigali)


Forwards: Justin Mico(Police FC), Ernest Sugira  (APR FC), Djabel Manishimwe (APR FC), Kevin Ishimwe (APR FC), Danny Usengimana (APR FC), Yannick Bizimana (Rayon Sports) and Kevin Hakizimana (Police FC).


The second-leg match against Ethiopia will be played on 18 October in Addis Ababa.


The 2020 African Nations Championship (CHAN), a competition that is designed for players featuring in their respective domestic leagues, will be held in Cameroon.
