Brazzaville, Congo, July 11 (Infosplusgabon) - The Pan-African and Congolese parliaments, as well as UNAIDS, Wednesday called on African countries to mobilize the necessary financial resources to fight HIV-AIDS.

The two made the call at a press briefing in Brazzaville, ahead of the High Summit on Financing against HIV-AIDS to be held Thursday and Friday in the Congolese capital, state radio announced.

“UNAIDS, the Pan-African Parliament and the World Health Organization (WHO) are relying on the Brazzaville meeting to agree not only on the decisions to be taken but also to try to see how, through parliamentarians and governments, to support the re-establishment of the Global Fund.

“For them, the Brazzaville Summit comes at the right time to start this momentum," said UNAIDS Advisor Béchir Ndaw.

"Funding must still not come from outside," he added, suggesting that USD 14 billion was needed to address the pandemic.
