Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire, June 25 (Infosplusgabon) - The 18th AGOA Forum will be held from 4-6 August in the Ivorian economic capital, Abidjan, diplomatic sources have said.

On the forum agenda is a session of trade ministers from eligible African countries and their American counterparts and B2B meetings between economic operators and civil society forum.

The US African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA), which came into force in 2001, aims to increase trade and investment between the United States and Sub-Saharan Africa.

Since its entry into force, AGOA has allowed 6,500 products from eligible countries in sub-Saharan Africa to enter the U.S. market duty free without quotas.

AGOA, which was due to end in 2015, has been extended until 30 September 2025.

In 2018, Côte d'Ivoire's exports to the United States totalled US$1.211 billion. Since October 2017, Côte d'Ivoire has developed a national strategy to increase exports to the United States to reach US$3.5 billion by 2025.

In 2019, 39 countries in sub-Saharan Africa are eligible for AGOA, including 27 countries eligible for benefits for clothing and textile products.
