Kigali, Rwanda, May 13 (Infosplusgabon) - The Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB) on Saturday confirmed it has arrested the former Vice-Mayor of Nyabihu district (North West), Clarisse Mukansanga, over allegations of trivialising the 1994 genocide in which more than one million people were slaughtered.

RIB confirmed that the former senior administrative official was arrested for remarks made recently during the commemoration period that was held in April.

Under a 2003 law, persons condemned for denying or grossly minimizing genocide, attempting to justify genocide or destroy evidence related to it are liable to a minimum of 10 years and a maximum of 20 in prison.
