Kigali, Rwanda, February  23 (Infosplusgabon) - Zambian President Edgar Lungu, on a two-day state visit to Rwanda, has condemned the negative perception that the African continent has continued to receive at the global level and stressed the need for unity of Africans.

As part of the the Zambian president's visit, he first went to the genocide memorial at Gisozi, a hill overlooking Kigali city, and held bilateral discussions with his Rwandan counterpart, Paul Kagame, during which various agreements were signed.

An official statement said President Kagame insisted African leaders must bring progress and development to the continent.

"We are also united by our commitment to build a stronger, and more efficient African Union, able to deliver quality services, to the citizens of this continent," he said.

Commenting on African Union (AU) implementation of 0.2% levy tax, the Rwandan President, who is currently the Chairman of AU, explained that with 21 countries that have joined this effort, the levy could start.

"More countries have the intention to start using the formula ... Some people are not clear on what this implies; a lot of effort has been put into trying to explain this," he said.

In the view of President Kagame, this achievement is a continuation of Africa’s liberation, and "all of us are stakeholders, in working towards this goal".
